Spotlight: Best form here, including when making virtually all to win over this trip in November and she was collared late on when posting a solid return over 1m4f in May; latest turf result can likely be forgiven (form's not at all bad anyway) and she's a player back at this venue.
Spotlight: Made a much better fist of his second handicap when only just held at Chelmsford (1m6f, AW) in April but he ran moderately at York (1m4f, good to firm) last time; something to prove after that, even though return to AW may help.
Spotlight: 0-2 on AW; won soft-ground maiden in France for David Menuisier last August and placed in Doncaster handicap (1m4f) the following month; weakened on stable debut at Windsor (1m2f) in April and didn't fare that much better over 11.4f there (good to firm) last time; handicapper is relenting, though.
Spotlight: Consistent between 1m2f and 2m through the winter and spring, so his last two starts have been disappointing when beaten 17l at Newcastle (Tapeta) and Goodwood (also 2m, good); needs to get back on track but they were better races than this so that's possible; drops back in trip.
Spotlight: Needs to bounce back from a poor effort at Newcastle (1m4f, Tapeta) last time but he was stuck out wide that day and was in good form previously; 2-2 over 1m4f at this track and should cope with this slightly shorter trip.
Spotlight: Gelded and strong in the market when making his breakthrough in April but he beat only two home next time, both over 11.4f at Windsor on good to firm; questions to answer now but his half-brother won races in the US wearing blinkers and that aid is now fitted for this AW debut.
Spotlight: Won at Sandown (1m2f, soft) in September and remained in good form on slow turf until end of last season; never competitive on return at Chelmsford (1m6f, AW) this month but might have needed that first run in 207 days; ran respectably as a juvenile on his sole start here, his only other AW race.
Spotlight: Off the mark at the sixth attempt when winning at Wolverhampton (Tapeta) in February after a 291-day break; that was just his second handicap and he ran respectably here (1m4f) in May on his only subsequent start; likely better to come.
Spotlight: Well backed to win a 1m4f handicap here last September but nowhere near that in his next three runs; latest effort over 1m here (first-time blinkers) a fortnight ago was a step back in the right direction, however, and he'd be a threat if building on that now back up in trip; now tries cheekpieces.
Spotlight: Good effort on his only visit here when second over 1m4f in December; also second at Chelmsford (1m2f) in April but never got going at Windsor last time; can probably do better now returned to AW but wide draw isn't helpful.
Spotlight: All starts at about 1m; won handicap debut here in February on second start for this stable; last when up in grade at Wolverhampton in March but he didn't look straightforward and was virtually pulled up at Pontefract 56 days ago; not easy to assess on this step up in trip in the added tongue-tie.
Spotlight: Just four starts on AW but he's won two of them, for previous connections four years ago; best Flat run for this yard came when fifth in the Amateurs' Derby at Epsom last August and this first start for 181 days might be a stepping stone to something similar.
Spotlight: Dual French 1m4f AW winner in the winter who was picked up for 44,000euros; weakened quickly when beaten a long way at this track (1m4f; 22-1) on her stable debut in May; yard had a big winner at Royal Ascot on Saturday and this one can surely do better; clearly needs to.
Spotlight: Outsider of four when snapping a losing run off a reduced mark on his penultimate start, comfortably winning over this trip at Southwell (Tapeta) in April; weakened at Yarmouth (1m2f, good to soft; 50-1) off 7lb higher the following month; the ground was a possible excuse but the handicapper hasn't budged and he's drawn widest.

There are plenty of ifs and buts and a few of these need to get over a moderate latest run, including Don Simon, Federated and Kingkeer who would otherwise have solid claims. On the face of it UMBRIA also needs to put her last start behind her but that was a warm race that's starting to work out and her best form has come here. She gets the vote ahead of Trojan Storm, while Outgun, Wonder and Xiomara also need considering.[Richard Russell] Show less
